Wisconsin Act 11 Video Reminder; Nominations Sought for Seats on ETF Policy and Advisory Boards; ETF To Host Presentations on Current WRS and ETF Issues

1999 Wisconsin Act 11 Video Reminder

Remember Wisconsin Act 11 and your Wisconsin Retirement System Benefits, a video produced by the Department last spring? A copy of the video, reviewing the retirement benefit law and its impact on WRS benefits, was distributed to WRS employer agents last May. Employer Bulletin Volume 17, No. 12 (May 19, 2000) preceded the video and reviewed the program's content. All WRS employers received one video tape. If you need more than one copy, please feel free to make duplicates using the tape you received.

For more information about 1999 Wisconsin Act 11 and Your Wisconsin Retirement System Benefits, contact Nancy Ketterhagen, ETF Office of Communications, at (608) 266-7471 or e-mail your request to nancy.ketterhagen@etf.state.wi.us.

Nominations Sought for WRS Policy and Advisory Board Seats

Please tell your employees that they still have time to request and file nomination papers in two important Employee Trust Funds (ETF) governing board elections set for this spring:

Employee Trust Funds Board

Educational Support Personnel working in Wisconsin public school districts and technical college districts now have a representative seat on the ETF Board. Wisconsin Act 181, which became effective June 2, 2000 added the new member to the Board.

Candidates interested in running for this seat have until November 30, 2000 to return nomination papers. Only educational support personnel in public school (excluding Milwaukee) and technical college districts may file nomination papers and vote in the election. Voting will take place in February.

Teachers Retirement Board

Nomination papers are available for elementary and secondary teachers (outside of the Milwaukee public school district) interested in running for seats on the Teachers Retirement Board. Two positions are up for election. Voting among elementary and secondary teachers will take place in February.

To request nomination papers, contact: Board Election Coordinator, Department of Employee Trust Funds, P.O. Box 7931, Madison, WI 53707-7931. Phone (608) 267-2862. To send an e-mail to the Board Election Coordinator, visit our Internet site.

ETF to Host Presentations on Current WRS and ETF Issues

Please extend to your employees this invitation to attend an informal presentation, hosted by the Secretary's Office of the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF). The meetings will address the following topics:

  • What's been happening in the Department and with the Trust Funds
  • ETF's customer service improvement plans
  • What Act 11 means to the Trust Funds
  • What Act 11 means to you
  • ETF's future

No reservations are necessary for these free presentations. All locations have adequate parking and are handicapped accessible. If the weather becomes severe in your area, please check your local radio station(s) for cancellation information.
