2004 Monthly Remittance Reports (ET-1515) Mailing to be Delayed

The 2004 Monthly Retirement Remittance Reports will be sent to employers the week of February 9, 2004. The delay in distributing reports will not change the due dates for submitting your January 2004 report. The January 2004 report is due February 20, 2004 for state agencies and February 27, 2004 for local employers.

Many employers are submitting supplemental payments to reduce or pay off Unfunded Accrued Liability (prior service) balances. These supplemental payments may reduce or eliminate an employer’s prior service contribution percentage rate. Due to the large number of employers making these supplemental prior service payments, the Department of Employee Trust Funds (DETF) is delaying the distribution of the 2004 Monthly Retirement Remittance Reports to ensure that remittance reports generated contain correct 2004 prior service contribution rates.

Note: Employers using the Employer IVR System to file their January 2004 report should not phone in the report until they receive the 2004 Monthly Retirement Remittance Reports.

Please call Nancy Kittleson at (608) 267-9034 if you have questions regarding your 2004 employer rates. Other questions regarding the Monthly Retirement Remittance Report can be directed to Jim Krawczyk at (608) 266-3309.

Department Redesigns Internet Site for Improved Service

The Department of Employee Trust Funds (DETF) has redesigned its Internet site to better serve Wisconsin Retirement System employers and participants. Look for the new design the first week of February, 2004.

In addition to more user-friendly pages and menus, DETF significantly improved the site’s construction—newer technologies allow, among other things, visitors to bookmark any page on the site (rather than just the homepage), making it possible to paste specific page links into electronic communications.

The site redesign allows for easier, more logical navigation and features updated graphics, pictures, and colors. The "What’s New" section on the homepage showcases current items of interest to participants such as health insurance or interest crediting. Other homepage sections permit access to publications, calculators that estimate retirement benefits and service purchase costs, information regarding DETF governing boards, employment news, and a site map. WRS employers can order forms online and review employer manuals, bulletins, eligibility criteria, and more.
