Revised Wisconsin Public Employer Group Life Insurance
Plan Booklet; 2005 - 2006 Life Insurance Rates for Local Employees
The Wisconsin Public Employers
Group Life Insurance brochure (ET-2101) has been updated. Minor
changes to the language clarify current policy. The revised brochure
includes the following policy changes:
- Changes to the Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)
limitations and requirements (Sections 6B and 6C) reflect new
contract language approved by the Group Insurance Board (GIB).
In addition, the GIB strengthened AD&D subsequent loss language
(Section 6A) to clarify that only one AD&D claim payment will
be made for each loss or loss of use of the same limb.
- Revisions to the Living Benefits provisions (Section 8) eliminate
benefits payable to the chronically ill under the confinement
and hospice options. The Living Benefits coverage is available
only to employees diagnosed with a terminal condition with a life
expectancy of 12 months or less. The GIB approved this change
to ensure that the Living Benefits provisions comply with the
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- New language clarifies that employees may continue coverage
while on military leave (Section 9A.)
- The employer contribution for those employers providing employees
with continued post-retirement coverage at the 50% of Basic level
decreased from 50% to 40% of the employee Basic rate.

2005 - 2006 Life Insurance Rates for Local Employees
Claims experience continues to be favorable for local government
employees insured under the Wisconsin Public Employers (WPE) Group
Life Insurance program. Funding for future benefits remains at a
strong level. Consequently, the Group Insurance Board approved maintaining
the employee and employer premium contribution rates for employees
at the same level as the 2004-2005 rates.
The spouse and dependent plan premium also remains the same at
$2.00 per unit per month. The coverage for each unit of spouse and
dependent coverage remains $10,000 for a spouse and $5,000 for each
dependent. Employees may elect up to two units of coverage.
