There are various times throughout your employment when you might consider enrolling in or making changes to your benefits. This may be when you are a new employee, annually during the It’s Your Choice open enrollment period, or when you experience a life event that may allow for a change.
Am I a state or local employee?
You are a state employee if you work or have retired from any state agency (including STAR and non-STAR), University of Wisconsin, UW Hospital & Clinics, or legislature.
You are a local employee if you work or have retired from a municipality such as a city, township, village, school district or technical college.
I am a State Employee, Retiree, Continuant or Graduate Assistant
The State of Wisconsin Group Health Insurance Program is available to state of Wisconsin employees, retired state of Wisconsin employees (annuitants), members with continuation coverage (continuants) and University of Wisconsin graduate assistants. The It’s Your Choice pages covering this program have the information you need to make informed choices for your health insurance and all other options to supplement your coverage.

If you are a Local Active Employee, Retiree or Continuant in the Local Traditional Plan (PO 2, 12) (previously known as Traditional HMO - Standard PPO), select this option.
