Calculating Your Retirement Benefits Online
Each year, thousands of Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) members
use the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) Online
Retirement Benefits Calculator to project what their WRS retirement
benefits might look like. ETF’s new 80-minute video presentation,
“Calculating Your Retirement Benefits Online,” is a
step-by-step tutorial on how to use the calculator so that you too
can easily and successfully obtain a projection* for all of the
options available to you.
The presentation shows how to locate the calculator on ETF’s
Internet site and where to obtain and enter all of your pertinent
information. You will see step-by-step sample calculations showing
hypothetical benefit projections for a “general” category
employee, a teacher, and an “inactive” participant.
It’s best to have your most recent Statement of Benefits
in hand while viewing this presentation and using the calculator.
*The calculator does not provide official WRS estimates. You
should use this as a tool to gain an understanding of your WRS retirement
benefit as a portion of your retirement income. If you are considering
retiring within one year, please contact ETF for an official estimate.

Minimum Technical Requirements for Viewing the Presentations
A webcast is the transmission of sound and images via the Internet.
Through the use of Mediasite technology, the Department of Employee
Trust Funds (ETF) is producing webcasts that enable Wisconsin Retirement
System (WRS) members and employers to participate in or view presentations,
training sessions, and other ETF-sponsored events that they would
not be able to attend in person. ETF archives these webcasts for
future viewing. To view a webcast, please make sure your computer
meets all of the following requirements:
- You must have a computer with 16+ MB RAM and a sound card with
speakers or headphones to view and listen to a webcast. A streaming
player software, such as Windows Media Player, and a web browser,
such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher) or Netscape,
are also required. If you are using older versions, please visit
Microsoft’s Internet
site for assistance.
- Internet connection: DSL or Cable (broadband) connections work
well. For dial-up, modems need to be a minimum of 56 kbps.
