2010 Health Insurance Premium Rates

Health insurance premium rates for the health plans participating in the state’s Group Health Insurance Program will increase an average of 9% in 2010. This marks the sixth straight year the Group Insurance Board and the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) have been able to hold cost increases to single digits. The program covers more than 90,000 state employees and retirees, and their dependents.

Keep in mind that individual rate increases may be higher or lower for some local government employers and some health plan options under the state plan. The combined weighted average increase for all plans in the Wisconsin Public Employers Group Health Insurance Program (affecting local government employees and retirees) in 2010 is 10.7%.
