Dependent Eligibility Verification (DEV) Review

Health care continues to be one of the fastest-growing expenses for employers and employees alike. The Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF), which administers the health insurance program for more than 400 state and local government employers, identified in 2009 the potential risk of having ineligible dependents enrolled in the program.

As part of our commitment to control health care costs, ETF, together with Public Consulting Group (an independent audit firm) will conduct a Dependent Eligibility Verification review this spring. Reviews like this are common. This review will assist ETF in determining the reliability that covered dependents are eligible. During the review, a small sample of subscribers will receive a packet of documents that must be completed and returned as directed. Of the 135,000 covered dependents in the program, 1,000 were randomly selected to participate. Responses are due to Public Consulting Group by May 27, 2011.

Public Consulting Group has been authorized by ETF to obtain the required documentation from the subscriber. Protecting personal information is a priority to ETF and Public Consulting Group. All documents provided during this project will be securely stored and protected through physical, electronic and procedural safeguards. Public Consulting Group has signed a confidentiality agreement with ETF requiring the company to comply with federal and state information security and data protection regulations.
