Picture yourself serving on a Wisconsin Retirement System governing board! There are several opportunities to serve on both the Teachers Retirement Board and the Employee Trust Funds Board. Details are below.

Self nominations are the first step in the process. If you’re interested in serving – don’t delay! The deadline for turning in completed nomination papers is October 14. See instructions below for downloading the nomination materials.

Active Employee Seats Open

  1. ETF Board — Educational Support Personnel member (1 seat available). Any WRS covered educational support personnel employee employed by a Wisconsin technical college district or a Wisconsin school district is eligible to run for this seat. Four-year term. Download a nomination packet for this seat.
  2. Teachers Retirement Board — Technical College Teacher member (1 seat available). Any WRS covered Wisconsin technical college district teacher is eligible to run for this seat. Five-year term. Download a nomination packet for this seat.
  3. Teachers Retirement Board — Public School Teacher member (1 seat available). Winner will fill remainder of existing vacancy. Term expires May 2027. Any active WRS covered teacher (excluding those employed by the Milwaukee Public School District) is eligible to run for this seat. Download a nomination packet for this seat.

Retired Member Seats Open

  1. ETF Funds Board – Annuitant Member (1 seat available). Any annuitant member of the WRS is eligible to run for this seat on the ETF Board. Four-year term. Download a nomination packet for this seat. 
  2. Teachers Retirement Board – Annuitant Teacher member (1 seat available). Any annuitant who was a WRS teacher member is eligible to run for this seat on the ETF Board. Five-year term. Download a nomination packet for this seat.

How to declare your candidacy:

  • Nominate yourself. Download nomination materials using the links above or request ETF mail them to you. Email BoardElections@etf.wi.gov or write to ETF, Retirement Board Liaison, P.O. Box 7931, Madison, WI 53707-7931.
  • Gather a minimum of 25 signatures from voters eligible to participate in your particular election. Example: If you want to run for the ETF Board-Annuitant member seat, a non-retired WRS member would not be eligible to sign your nomination papers. 
  • Send completed nomination materials to ETF. Materials must be received by October 14, 2022.
