The Group Insurance Board (GIB) oversees administration of the group health, life, and income continuation insurance (ICI) plans for state employees and the group health, life, and ICI plans for local employers who choose to offer them. The GIB can also provide other insurance plans, if employees pay the entire premium. Six of the 11 members are appointed by the Governor. The remaining positions are ex-officio members occupied by the following officials or their designees: Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of the Department of Administration, Administrator in Department of Administration, Division of Personnel Management or Administrator's designee, and the Commissioner of Insurance.
