Join us this month in learning about diabetes and prediabetes. Three common types of diabetes include Type I, Type II, and gestational (during pregnancy). In all three types, the body does not process food that is turned into sugars for energy in a healthy way because it does not make or use insulin appropriately.

If someone does not know they have diabetes or if they do not manage it well, it can have serious impacts on the body, including increased risk of heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, digestive issues, and more. The good news is that help is available.

Group Health Insurance Program subscribers and spouses who are not on a high deductible health plan may be able to reduce their pharmacy copays for diabetes medications by participating in the Well Wisconsin diabetes management coaching program. Learn more about It’s Your Health: Diabetes and get enrolled.

Members can also enroll in the National Diabetes Prevention Program or utilize other Well Wisconsin healthy lifestyle resources related to weight management, healthy nutrition, and physical activity. Contact WebMD at 1-800-821-6591 to learn more about these options and get help registering for one that’s right for you.
