The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report of the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds for the year ended December 31, 2018 provides comprehensive information about ETF, the Wisconsin Retirement System, and other benefit programs administered by ETF.
The WRS covers employees of the state of Wisconsin and employees of local government employers who elect to participate, and Milwaukee Public School District teachers.
A disability retirement benefit is a lifetime annuity paid to eligible WRS employees who become disabled and are unable to work until normal retirement age.
The information pertains to an appeal by a number of employees working in county jails throughout the state (jailers) of Wisconsin. The appeal was based on their employer’s determination that they should be reported to the Wisconsin Retirement System as General Category employees instead of protective category employees with Social Security.
