The WRS is a pension plan that is open to any public employer as defined by Wis. Stat. § 40.02(28). All employers joining the WRS must be covered by Wisconsin’s Section 218 Agreement with the SSA. The WRS is intended to provide a lifetime annuity to members who are vested and have reached minimum retirement age.

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report of the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds for the year ended December 31, 2007 provides comprehensive information about ETF, the Wisconsin Retirement System, and other benefit programs administered by ETF.
The program offers term life insurance coverage up to 5 times your yearly pay for State of Wisconsin employees and local government employees whose employer offers the plan. An employee may also insure their spouse and dependent children.
This report presents the results of the annual actuarial valuation of benefit liabilities and costs of the Accumulated Sick Leave Conversion Credit (ASLCC) Programs as of December 31, 2018.
