Required Minimum Distribution

Once you stop working for a Wisconsin Retirement System employer, federal law requires you to begin receiving your benefit payment(s) by a certain date, depending on your age. This is called a required minimum distribution (RMD).

Long-Term Disability Insurance

LTDI is a disability insurance benefit under the WRS that is meant to provide an income to members who have become totally and permanently disabled. This program was closed to new claims January 1, 2018.

The investigation was made for the purpose of updating the actuarial assumptions used in valuing the actuarial liabilities of the Wisconsin Retirement System in compliance with Section 40.03(5)(b) of the Wisconsin Statutes.

Election to Participate in the Variable Trust Fund

If you make this election, 50% of all your future WRS employee and employer required contributions and additional contributions will be deposited in the Variable Fund. The other 50% will be invested in the Core Fund.
