The components that make up your health insurance premium are not new, but they are now visible with My Insurance Benefits for improved billing transparency. By enrolling in health insurance, you agree to pay for all associated premiums and fees.
The table below describes each component of your health insurance premium.
Premium Component | Description |

Medical | Pays for visits to the doctor’s office, lab work, X-rays, and other medical expenses. Visit Benefits Available to Me or select your program option to find covered services. |
Pharmacy | Pays for a variety of medications, and vaccines at in-network pharmacies. Visit Benefits Available to Me or select your program option to find covered drugs and vaccines, and in-network pharmacies. |
Wellness Program | Pays for programs to support health and well-being through coaching, screenings, condition management, stress management and resiliency, pain management, weight loss support, and more. Learn more about Well Wisconsin. |
Administrative Fee | Pays for operational costs to run the Group Health Insurance Program, including compliance audits, actuarial services, ETF staff salaries, maintaining the data warehouse, and systems. |
Uniform Dental | If you are eligible and enroll in Uniform Dental, it will be added to your premium. Uniform Dental provides coverage for basic dental procedures such as cleanings, exams, fluoride treatment, fillings, and orthodontia. |
Premiums and administrative fees are reviewed and approved annually by the Group Insurance Board. The Board consults with ETF staff and its actuary as a part of the rate setting process for the upcoming plan year.
