Part one of this workshop series will explore the basics of diabetes, nutrition, and the benefits of physical activity. Part one of this workshop runs from September 10 through October 8, meeting bi-weekly on Wednesdays from 12 to 1 pm CT.
Part 1: Laying the Groundwork for Diabetes Prevention & Management
Build your foundation for lasting change through core topics like nutrition, physical activity, and personalized goal setting:
Session 1: Introduction to Diabetes Prevention and Wellness
- Learn the types of diabetes and how lifestyle impacts risk.
- Activity: Take a risk assessment quiz to identify personal factors.
Session 2: Nutrition Basics & Healthy Eating Habits
- Explore balanced meals, portion control, and healthy food swaps.
- Challenge: Replace a high-glycemic food with a healthier option.
Session 3: Physical Activity & Blood Sugar Control
- Understand how movement supports blood sugar management.
- Challenge: Track your activity and aim for 150 minutes per week.
