The Accident Plan, administered by Securian Financial, provides a cash payment to help cover out-of-pocket expenses related to covered accidents – such as concussions, x-rays, and surgeries.
The Accident Plan is available for active employees only. An employee may continue their Accident Plan enrollment into retirement, up to age 70.
New for 2022: Employees of UW Hospitals and Clinics are eligible to enroll in the Accident Plan for coverage beginning January 1, 2022.
There are two notable changes to the Accident Plan for plan year 2022:
- Most claim payment amounts will increase. This means members will receive a greater cash payment amount to help cover accident-related expenses than in prior plan years – at the same monthly rate.
- Outpatient rehabilitation therapy visits have been added as a covered claim type for 2022. Visits will need related to a covered accident type to receive payout.
