Nine Wisconsin employers were recognized for well-being through the 2022 Well Wisconsin program. These employers achieved excellence and innovation, as well as high participation in employee well-being through the the year. Well-being champions representing these employers were recognized at a recent Well Wisconsin Awards Ceremony held at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison, Wis.

Ceremony Highlights

  • Welcome and appreciation of employer commitment to well-being by Department of Employee Trust Funds Assistant Deputy Secretary Pam Henning.
  • Molly Dunks, ETF Disease Management and Wellness Program Manager, reviewed key findings from 2022.
    • Approximately 48,000 Group Health Insurance Program members participated in Well Wisconsin throughout the year.
    • Preliminary findings show that repeat participants reduced their health risks from the previous year and over 90% of participants reported a high satisfaction ratings. 
  • Department of Administration Director for the Enterprise Bureau of Equity and Inclusion, Laurice Lincoln and Wellness & EAP Coordinator, Christina Bulin presented awards to representatives of state agency honorees. 
  • University of Wisconsin System’s Vice President for Finance and Administration Sean Nelson and Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Dan Chanen presented awards to UW institution recipients.

(Note: Local employers receiving awards were unable to attend the ceremony and will receive their awards at a later date.) 

The event closed with a guest presentation by Dr. Christine Whelan, clinical professor at the School of Human Ecology at UW-Madison, on “Authentic Purpose: Why it Matters and How to Make it Happen.” She will be presenting again on February 16 at 12 p.m.

Excellence and Innovation in Employee Well-being 

  • University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for creating a culture where everyone matters and using aggregate health results to drive wellness initiatives.
  • Wisconsin Department of Children and Families for embedding employee well-being into the culture and values of the organization.
  • City of Oconomowoc for advancing their well-being strategy and ongoing dedication to promoting well-being.

Personal Spotlight

  • Tacara Lovings from the Department of Public Institution for fostering wellness using an equity lens which creates belonging, connection, well-being, and a more inclusive work environment.

Well Wisconsin Participation 

  • Wisconsin Department of Children and Families – highest percentage participation (51.4%) in Well Wisconsin among state agencies with more than 500 employees.
  • Wisconsin State Fair Park – highest percentage participation (71.2%) in Well Wisconsin among state agencies with less than 500 employees.
  • University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh – highest percentage participation (39.7%) in Well Wisconsin among the UW system with more than 1,000 employees.
  • University of Wisconsin System Administration – highest percentage participation (47.8%) in Well Wisconsin among the UW System with less than 1,000 employees.
  • Bayfield County – highest percentage participation (79.7%) in Well Wisconsin among local employers with greater than 100 employees.
  • Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District – highest percentage participation (77.1%) in Well Wisconsin among local employers with 50 to 100 employees.
