Under state law, employers are limited to a maximum and minimum contribution toward their employee’s health insurance premiums. Most employers use the 88% formula linked above. Under this formula, employers may pay no more than 88% of the average premium cost of the qualified tier-one health plans in the service area (county) of the employer. They may pay no less than 50% for employees who work 1,040 or more hours per year.
If you still use the 105% formula for law enforcement, or firefighting (Public Safety Employees) who are covered by a valid collective bargaining agreement, please contact ETF for those premium rate tables.
Employers who Tier their premium contributions may also contact ETF with questions. Also see Health Plan Tiers for information.
